In the early 1970s, Nahanni pioneers Gus and Mary Kraus chose this special place as their homestead, guided by a deep respect for the land and its quiet beauty. Recognizing the same care and passion in Ted Grant, they entrusted him with their homestead, knowing it would be thoughtfully preserved and shared with visitors from around the world.
